What are the parameters of gun liability in the home as a personal lines exposure and in the workplace as a commercial vulnerability? I’ll be exploring the Homeowners and General Liability forms’ response to firearm usage as a means of self-defense, property, and life protection, as well as from an “Active Shooter” in a business, public at-large, or at a school. The session will also breakdown a risk management assessment of the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida—the deadliest mass shooting at a school in U.S. history.

As our culture and society seemingly circle the toilet bowl, what are the implications for proper conduct in a business environment? I’ll be evaluating current cases and the dilemma under an ethical lense. The session will also consider the reasons to make a correct decision while conducting business, managing people, or setting the barometer for an insurance office or corporate workplace. We’ll explore the commonality of ancient texts on ethics as well as touch on pop-culture caricatures of corporate employment within NBC’s “The Office” and 20th Century Fox’s “Office Space” and the ethical commentary they provide.

Does a policy pay-out if there’s suspected foul play? What if there is no recoverable body (like Steve Buscemi in “Fargo”)? Remember when life insurance was just a thing for your family when you croak? What originated as a simple, single-peril insurance policy has evolved into a modern mashup of living benefits, riders and a slew of other purposes and functions that often overshadow the death benefit. This presentation dives into many functions of modern life insurance that make it more essential for families and businesses today than ever before.

I’ll explain how multiple lines of insurance speak directly to covering both the employer and employee and how this alters the relationship and oversight.
